Santos have paid €2.56 million, about R$ 15.3 million, to Arouca for João Basso, a move that will lift their FIFA transfer ban, according to Globo.com.

In the coming days, the club should be removed from FIFA's list of teams barred from registering new players. That would allow Santos back into the market and to seek reinforcements for Juan Pablo Vojvoda's staff.

In January, the Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed FIFA's ruling over the unpaid fee for Basso, who arrived at Vila Belmiro in 2023 under Andrés Rueda. The club had 45 days to settle a little over R$ 15 million but did not do so.

On the 19th, FIFA placed Santos on the list of clubs banned from registering players for three windows as punishment, which surprised the board. There had been an understanding that payment could be made until the 26th.

With the ban coming off, Santos will register midfielder Christian Oliva, signed from Nacional-URU, who has been keeping fit with the squad in recent days. The Uruguayan is expected to appear on the CBF's BID, Boletim Informativo Diário, soon and could be cleared to make his debut.
