Santos held another session at CT Rei Pelé on Tuesday without their starters on the pitch, resting them for a second consecutive day.
According to Diario Do Peixe, the players who began the Novorizontino match that ended their Paulista campaign only joined the group for the warm-up before being withdrawn from technical and tactical drills, with physical fatigue cited by the staff.
Those starters also stayed off the grass on Monday, so they will have just Wednesday’s session on the pitch before facing Vasco in the fourth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A.
Reserves and weekend absentees trained as normal, completing two blocks, one on technical fundamentals and another focusing on tactical work.
The game at 19:00 on Thursday 26 at Vila Belmiro carries added weight for head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda. After the early state exit he is under greater pressure, with Santos on one point from three rounds, in the relegation zone and seeking a first league win to lift the mood and start a recovery.
