Santos resumed training on Thursday after a day off and began preparing for Sunday’s Brasileirão meeting with Athletico-PR at Vila Belmiro, with Neymar set to miss out.
According to Globo.com, Neymar trained with the group but will serve a suspension after receiving his third yellow card in the draw with Chapecoense. Head coach Cuca has two further sessions at the training ground to settle on his XI.
Miguelito and Benjamín Rollheiser are options for the second half, with Caballero expected to keep his place among the starters. Thursday featured a tactical, small-sided workout involving the full squad, including those who began the last match.
Cuca also has injuries to manage. Centre-back Lucas Veríssimo is treating a right calf issue and right-back Igor Vinicius has lower-back pain, with both continuing physiotherapy.
Probable Santos: Gabriel Brazão, Gabriel Menino, Adonís Frías, João Ananias, Escobar, João Schmidt or Arão, Oliva, Gabriel Bontempo, Barreal, Caballero, Gabigol.
Santos enter the 22nd round in 15th on 22 points, level with Grêmio, who are 17th and sit at the top of the relegation zone.
