Santos will pay part of Billal Brahimi's wages while he joins Estrela de Amadora on loan until the end of the European season.

According to Globo.com, the club will cover the Algerian's salary for four months in Europe. From mid-year he will sign a permanent deal with the Portuguese side, ending Santos' remaining liability on an agreement initially due to run until the end of 2026. Santos estimates savings of up to R$ 8 million in this period.

The complex arrangement, with Santos paying until the season's end, reflects Estrela de Amadora's local league Financial Fair Play constraints. It allows Brahimi to be registered now without the club breaching spending limits.

His signing proved contentious at Santos, with council members requesting a review of his contract after he failed to impress and played only about 20 minutes for the first team. His sole outing came in September, a 2-2 draw with Red Bull Bragantino in the Brasileirão.

Brahimi struggled to adapt to Brazil during a period of internal pressure, when Guilherme faced criticism from supporters. He also had dietary issues linked to cultural differences, and on the pitch did not reach the technical, physical and tactical levels needed to convince Vojvoda, who had approved the move.
