Santos to reunite with Adidas from 2028 after five-trophy 1980s spell | OneFootball

According to Diario Do Peixe, Santos have signed with Adidas to become the club’s kit supplier from 2028 on a six-year deal, marking the brand’s return after almost 40 years.

Adidas previously outfitted Santos in two spells in the 1980s, first from 1980 to 1981, then from 1984 to 1988.

Wearing Adidas, Santos won five trophies: in 1984 the Torneio Início da FPF and the Taça dos Invictos, an award from Gazeta Esportiva, plus the Campeonato Paulista. In 1985 came the Kirin Cup in Japan, then in 1987 the Torneio Cidade de Marseille in France.

The standout was the 1984 Paulista, when they beat Corinthians at Morumbi. That side featured Rodolfo Rodríguez, Paulo Isidoro, Zé Sérgio and Serginho Chulapa, who scored in the final.

Adidas will only take over in 2028 because Santos remain under contract with Umbro until December 2027. The agreement covers uniforms and other club apparel, alongside royalty payments to the club.

A key plank of the project is wider product distribution, with potential sales in more than 100 Adidas stores across several countries. The plan includes treating Santos as a priority brand and exploring the club’s international reach.

The aim is to make official merchandise easier to buy for supporters outside Brazil, where access is now limited. The run-up to 2028 will be used to develop kits and other products, with collections prepared in advance.
