Santos have travelled to Chapecó without Gabigol, Adonis Frías and Mayke for their Brasileirão opener against Chapecoense on Wednesday 28, 20:00, at Arena Condá.

The squad trained at CT Rei Pelé on Tuesday morning with tactical and technical work, then flew in the afternoon. According to Diario Do Peixe, Juan Pablo Vojvoda is expected to rest players who have logged heavy minutes.

Barreal and Gabriel Bontempo return to the squad after a hip trauma and a muscle oedema respectively. Alexis Duarte is included again, and forward Fernando Pradella receives his first call up.

Santos also have five further absences. Gustavo Henrique has a right adductor muscle injury, Willian Arão is recovering from kidney stone removal surgery, Thaciano has muscular oedema in his right hamstring, Tiquinho Soares has oedema in his left calf, and Neymar began physical transition this week.

This month has already brought five matches in 15 days in the Paulistão, against Novorizontino on day 10, Palmeiras on day 14, Guarani on day 18, Corinthians on day 22 and Red Bull Bragantino on day 25. After facing Chape, Santos return to the Baixada Santista and prepare for São Paulo on Saturday 31 in the state championship.
