São Paulo beaten by Palmeiras away in the Brasileirão

This Saturday (12), São Paulo was beaten 2-0 by Palmeiras at Nubank Parque, in São Paulo (SP), in a match valid for the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship.

In the first half, the two teams had an evenly balanced start, with Tricolor creating good chances. As early as the 5th minute, after an individual play by Ferreira, André Silva tried from long range, but the ball went wide. In the 36th minute, after a rebound inside the box, Pablo Maia struck dangerously, but the opposing defense blocked the attempt. In the 46th minute, Murilo received the ball from Gustavo Gómez and opened the scoring for Palmeiras. The first half ended with a 1-0 advantage for the home side.

After the break, in the 4th minute, Vitor Roque scored Palmeiras’ second. São Paulo kept pressing. In the 9th minute, Wendell received the ball inside the box, fired a low shot, and forced a good save from the opposing goalkeeper. Then, in the 23rd minute, after an Artur corner kick, Rafael Toloi headed dangerously, but the ball went wide. Tricolor kept searching for a goal, but could not avoid defeat.

São Paulo’s next challenge will be the second leg of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana quarterfinals against Boca Juniors next Tuesday (15), at 9:30 p.m., at MorumBIS. In the Brasileirão, Tricolor will host Internacional next Saturday (19), at 9 p.m., also at MorumBIS.
