According to UOL, São Paulo are considering legal action against Botafogo for the sale of Lucas Perri (26) to Olympique Lyonnais, as they allege that the negotiations between the two clubs undervalued a player with whom they were entitled to an 18.3% share of the agreed fee.
São Paulo believe that the two clubs, both owned by the American businessman John Textor, did not accurately represent the goalkeeper’s true value when agreeing to a €3.250 million transfer during the winter window, and will take the matter to FIFA.
São Paulo claims to hold 15% of the economic rights for the player after selling him to Botafogo in 2022 and is entitled to a further 3.3% due to their status as his formative club per FIFA’s solidarity mechanism.
UOL states that São Paulo will also take Botafogo to court for the non-payment of the amount corresponding to their 18.3% share.
