São Paulo director Rui Costa has dismissed claims of advanced talks for Alisson to join Vasco, replying: “Não procede”.
According to PaponaColina, the denial followed suggestions the midfielder would accept a steep pay cut to speed a deal.
Wednesday marked one month since his last appearance, a 3-0 defeat to Mirassol in the season opener. He has since fallen out of favour with head coach Hernán Crespo and relations with fans have soured, with some labelling him a “traidor” after a failed move to Corinthians.
São Paulo are keen to move him on to ease the wage bill, with an estimated saving of R$ seven million a year until his contract ends in 2027. He has been omitted from matchday squads and is now behind academy midfielder Djhordney.
Vasco remain in the market for a midfielder to bolster Fernando Diniz’s options. For now, Rui Costa’s stance suggests any Alisson deal would need a major turnaround behind the scenes.
