São Paulo will not include Alisson for Sunday’s derby at Neo Química Arena in the Campeonato Paulista, with discussions ongoing with Corinthians.
According to Globo.com, club and player agreed to pull him from recent matches. He also missed Thursday’s win over São Bernardo at Morumbis.
Corinthians want the 32-year-old midfielder and proposed a player exchange. São Paulo have not accepted the names offered, as they are not in the rival’s plans, and have put forward alternatives.
Talks remain open and could lead to a swap, a loan with a fixed fee, or a permanent sale. Alisson joined São Paulo in 2021 on a free after leaving Grêmio.
The renewed approach came via Marcelo Paz, the new football executive. Although Alisson is fond of São Paulo, his minutes have diminished under Hernán Crespo, with other midfielders now ahead.
Corinthians do not intend to trade key figures from their Copa do Brasil triumph, such as Raniele and José Martínez, despite enquiries.
Highly regarded by coach Dorival Júnior, who oversaw his shift from forward to a more defensive role, Alisson is contracted until the end of 2027. Dorival said he rates the player but stressed respect for the rivalry and for ongoing talks between the clubs.
