According to Coluna Do Fla, São Paulo were close to signing Portuguese centre-back Domingos Duarte, formerly of Getafe, but discussions now look set to end after the player failed to respond in time.

The 31-year-old still has doubts about a move to Brazil, so São Paulo are likely to walk away from talks.

Duarte is currently out of contract after his deal with Getafe ended. He is also on the radar of Botafogo and other clubs for the rest of the season.

Flamengo targeted Duarte at the start of 2024 while he was still at Getafe, tabling a €3 million offer, R$ 16 million at the time.

After moving on from Duarte, Flamengo signed Léo Ortiz from Red Bull Bragantino for €7 million, R$ 36.7 million at the time.
