According to Globo.com, the São Paulo Civil Police have opened an inquiry into possible diversion of funds and false invoices at Corinthians during Duilio Monteiro Alves’s 2021 to 2023 tenure.

The probe began last week after a Corinthians supporter petitioned prosecutors in July.

The request cited reporting that the club paid personal expenses under Duilio. An expenses log with receipts dated 26 September to 31 October 2023 lists 176 purchases totalling R$ 86,524.62, paid in cash and reimbursed by the club. Items included beer, erectile dysfunction medication and other non-football products.

The largest supplier named is Oliveira Minimercado, which billed R$ 32,580 across seven invoices between 18 and 31 October, all listed as buffet services. Registered in Jardim Ângela, about 35km from the club’s headquarters, the address’s residents denied any shop there in recent years, raising suspicion of a front and false invoices.

Prosecutors had already been examining the case. After hearing the shop’s partners, they deemed the testimonies weak and reinforced suspicion the firm is a shell.

Since July, Duilio has denied knowing the spreadsheet, insists his tenure was clean and says he is available to authorities. His lawyers say they have not seen any Civil Police file or formal information, so cannot address the merits, and will respond after full access.
