The São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office has again asked the courts to intervene at Corinthians, alleging the 2025 accounts approval is null and that the club has been run recklessly in light of last year’s figures.
According to Globo.com, prosecutor Cássio Conserino set out a series of events, beginning with the presence of Haroldo Dantas at the Fiscal Council meeting that recommended approval with reservations. Dantas, a lawyer for companies owned by president Osmar Stabile, had been removed from his role as the council’s president due to conflicts of interest.
Despite being barred from taking part, he attended the meeting at Parque São Jorge and signed the minutes that advised councillors to pass the management’s accounts.
Conserino argues that the CORI, the advisory council, failed in governance by not identifying the illegality of Dantas’s participation, by not specifying the reservations, and by proposing no sanctions or remedies.
He says the Deliberative Council then ignored internal and external warnings when approving Osmar Stabile’s accounts, which showed a R$ 143 million deficit in 2025 and debt exceeding R$ 2.7 billion. He also seeks liability for councillors who voted in favour.
In his filing, Conserino describes systemic and institutional failings in Corinthians’ control bodies, a breach of the governance required by the Lei Geral do Esporte, and a worsening administrative picture. He adds that the approval with reservations did not address operational continuity, plans to settle debt nearing R$ 3 billion, or how to resolve the R$ 143.4 million shortfall.
The petition will now be added to documents already before the judiciary for review. In December last year, a civil inquiry was opened to assess possible intervention, at that time over alleged misuse of the club’s corporate cards.
