Fans of the Tricolor can revel in glory as São Paulo handed Flamengo a 4-1 defeat at the Maracanã.

The Rubo-Negro were looking to extend their unbeaten streak to 13 games, but were humbled by the visitors thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper Tiago Volpi.

Flamengo got off to a great start when in-form striker Pedro scored the opener six minutes in, equalling his personal record for most goals scored in single Brasileirão season (10).

But the visitors side were not going to let up that easy.

Goals from Danilo ‘Tchê Tchê’ Neves and Brenner gave the visitors a 2-1 lead by half time.

After the interval, São Paulo kept their momentum as Reinaldo Manoel da Silva and Luciano da Rocha Neves added the third and fourth respectively.

But while the Tricolor scored a plethora of goals, Flamengo were not without their chances.

Both Bruno Henrique and Pedro stepped up for penalties in either half but Volpi stopped both. He also assisted Luciano’s goal on what he dubbed a “magical afternoon”.

After the loss, Domenec Torrent’s side remain in second place in the table with 35 points, while São Paulo move up to fifth with 30.
