Sarasketa replaces Barandalla at Bilbao Athletic as Elijah Gift heads to Eibar on loan | OneFootball

Lucas Sarasketa, a left-back from Durango born in 2006, has joined Bilbao Athletic in Primera Federación under Bittor Llopis after an agreement with SD Eibar. The move covers the departure of fellow left-back Miguel Barandalla to CD Logroñés.

According to as.com, the agreement with Eibar includes a parallel deal that sends winger Elijah Gift on loan to Eibar.

The 19-year-old completed pre-season with Eibar’s first team and was named in the squad for the first two Segunda División matchdays by Jokin Aranbarri. He also featured in a pre-season friendly between the clubs. He is regarded as a promising prospect.

Barandalla, also a left-back and the former Bilbao Athletic captain, recently ended his spell at Lezama and moved to Las Gaunas to push on with his career. The Barañain native, 22, rose through Athletic’s ranks from Cadetes, including a loan at Sestao River.

Sarasketa previously spent two seasons at Lezama after emerging at Durangoko Jesuitak. Since leaving Athletic in 2018-19 he progressed through SD Eibar’s youth set-up, making 20 appearances for their B team last season with notable performances.
