Sarina Wiegman led England to back-to-back successes at the Euros
England manager Sarina Wiegman has been nominated for the Johan Cruyff Trophy following her Euro 2025 success with the Lionesses.
Wiegman faces off against the best in the world for the award with Chelsea boss Sonia Bompastor leading the competition.
Sarina Wiegman is on a simply incredible run in women’s international football.
The Dutch manager led England to back-to-back European Championships this summer against all the odds.
Wiegman’s team are currently 3/1 with UK Betting sites to win a third Euros on the trot in 2029.
While the Lionesses have won the previous two renewals of the tournament, Wiegman has won three in a row already with her first title coming for her home nation in 2017.
It isn’t just the Euros that the 55-year-old has excelled in recently having made the final of major tournaments in her last five appearances.
After such a successful 2025 it is no surprise that the Dutch manager is finally being recognised for her hard work.
Wiegman was inducted into the National Football Museum Hall of Fame along with her England squad following their success in Switzerland.
England’s rather underwhelming Nations League campaign is the only thing marring Wiegman’s otherwise perfect year.
While Wiegman looks like a rock-solid contender for the Johan Cruyff Trophy, there is plenty of competition.
Chelsea’s Sonia Bompastor heads the opposition and it didn’t take long for the Spaniard to make her mark in England.
Bompastor was hired as the new Chelsea manager at the beginning of the season and she completed the domestic treble, winning the FA Cup, Women’s Super League and League Cup.
Although for yet another season the Champions League eluded Chelsea again.
It was Arsenal who won the Champions League and their manager Renee Slegers is another nominee.
Wiegman, Bompastor and Slegers are all well ahead of the other nominees for the award. Nigeria boss Justine Madugu and Brazil’s Arthur Elias complete the list of nominees.
