Sarina Wiegman has named the 23 Lionesses who will make up her England squad and fly to Switzerland for Euro 2025.

The squad involved 13 players who were part of the squad that led England to glory at Euro 2022.

It has been an unsettling period for the Lionesses with three players from that Euro 2022 squad all withdrawing from international duty this summer – with two deciding to retire.

Chelsea star Lauren James has been named in the squad, despite not featuring since suffering a hamstring injury during England’s 5-0 Nations League win over Belgium in April.

Her inclusion comes as England legends Ellen White and Karen Bardsley said that taking a risk on James could pay off for England this summer.

Lauren Hemp, Georgia Stanway and Alex Greenwood have all recently overcome lengthy injury spells to return to action in time for this summer’s tournament.

There are seven players who will feature at their first international tournament. That list includes Arsenal’s Michelle Agyemang who scored on her debut for the Lionesses back in April.

Aggie Beever-Jones, Grace Clinton, Khiara Keating, Maya Le Tissier, Anna Moorhouse, and Jess Park – will also appear at their first major tournament.

Wiegman said: “I know this is an exciting day, for the players and also for our fans and it underlines that the tournament is coming soon. Telling the players they have made the squad is always a great moment.

“They will all give everything to help us make the country proud. This group is a very well-balanced mix of players with multiple tournaments on their CVs and also those that will make their tournament debuts. I am excited to see what we are capable of this summer.”

Which England players were unavailable for selection?

England manager Sarina Wiegman’s squad selection for Euro 2025 was made trickier in recent weeks.

Mary Earps, Millie Bright, and Fran Kirby will all miss Euro 2025, after being part of the side that won the tournament in 2022.

Goalkeeper Earps announced her shock retirement from international football last week. This came after she was told she would play back-up to Hannah Hampton.

Fran Kirby then announced her retirement, while Millie Bright withdrew citing physical and mental burnout.
