Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri already knows the bulk of the starting lineup that will battle Inter Milan at San Siro on Sunday, but two spots remain up for grabs.

Lazio Still Missing a Host of Key Players Ahead of Inter Milan Clash

The Biancocelesti remain without several key players who have yet to recover, mainly Nicolo Rovella, Taty Castellanos, Matteo Cancellieri and Nuno Tavares. Moreover, Samuel Gigot and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru are both injured and out of the Serie A squad. Therefore, the coach doesn’t have much room to tinker, so he’s been relying on virtually the same lineup week in week out.

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Sarri should once again confirm his selections for Sunday’s big clash against Inter, but potentially with tweaks at the back. The first change could be compulsory, as Alessio Romagnoli suffered from muscle fatigue in Monday’s contest against Pisa, which prompted his exit at half-time.

Alessio Romagnoli Still Hoping to Play Against Inter Milan

Luckily for the Italian defender, the tests have ruled out any injuries. However, the 30-year-old is expected to be rested this weekend, making way for Oliver Provstgaard. Nevertheless, Romagnoli shouldn’t be completely ruled out of the running for a starting spot, but he would have to pass an athletic test on Saturday afternoon, explains the source.

Luca Pellegrini Challenges Manuel Lazzari

The other potential change to the lineup could be a rather familiar one, with Luca Pellegrini pushing for a starting role at the expense of Manuel Lazzari, who’s still considered the slight favorite at this stage. As usual, Adam Marusic would be happy to occupy either flank, depending on the identity of Lazio’s other full-back.

Lazio Midfield & Attack Remain Intact

Elsewhere, Toma Basic should once again pip Matias Vecino for a berth in the midfield three alongside Danilo Cataldi and Matteo Guendouzi. Despite his unconvincing displays, Boulaye Dia should once again spearhead the charge, supported by Gustav Isaksen and Mattia Zaccagni on the wings.

Lazio Expected XI (4-3-3): Provedel; Lazzari (Pellegrini), Gila, Provstgaard (Romagnoli), Marusic; Guendouzi, Cataldi, Basic; Isaksen, Dia, Zaccagni.
