TMW reports that Lazio and Maurizio Sarri have agreed an early termination of his contract, leaving him set to take over at Atalanta in place of Raffaele Palladino.

Sarri is set to leave Lazio after one season back in charge, which ended with a ninth-place finish in Serie A in 2025-26.

He would be reunited with recently appointed director Cristiano Giuntoli. The pair enjoyed several successful seasons together at Napoli, which is thought to be a key reason for choosing Atalanta rather than the Partenopei, who also need a successor to Antonio Conte.

The final details of his Biancocelesti exit were expected to be wrapped up on Tuesday evening. Sarri remains under contract at Lazio for another two seasons, until summer 2028, and Gennaro Gattuso is in line to replace him.

Atalanta still need to reach an arrangement with Palladino. Their budget is said to be stretched, with payments still due on the contract of former coach Ivan Juric.
