Barcelona want to sign a new striker this summer, with the number nine shirt vacant since the exit of Polish star Robert Lewandowski.
The ex-Bayern Munich striker spent the last four seasons at Barça and had a great impact both on and off the pitch.
He has left big boots to fill, and the Catalan club have now identified Julian Alvarez as the dream target to spearhead the attack.
Negotiations for him have been far from straightforward, and Atletico have already rejected Barça’s first bid for the player.
One thing that is crystal clear at the moment is that any move to bring in Alvarez is likely to be a significant financial operation. Therefore, to make the operation feasible, a major sale might have to be considered.
Now, according to AS, Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr are preparing to test Barcelona’s resolve with a substantial offer for Raphinha.

The Brazilian recently reaffirmed his commitment to the club, and there has been little indication from his side that he is actively considering a departure.
Yet the figures being discussed are significant, with the Blaugrana potentially receiving around €80 million, while Raphinha would be offered a salary far beyond his current earnings.
For now, neither Barcelona nor the player appear eager to entertain the possibility.
From a sporting perspective, losing Raphinha would be difficult to justify. The Brazilian has developed into one of Hansi Flick’s most important players, not only because of his output, but also because of his leadership.
His influence extends beyond goals and assists. He sets the tone with his work rate, presses relentlessly and has an excellent relationship with Flick.

That is not a profile Barcelona can easily replace, regardless of the transfer fee involved.
While Anthony Gordon’s arrival provides another high-level option in attack, replacing Raphinha’s overall contribution would be far more difficult than simply filling a position on the pitch.
Barcelona’s priority remains the signing of a world-class striker following Robert Lewandowski’s departure.
An €80 million sale would dramatically improve their financial flexibility and potentially accelerate plans to strengthen the attack.
That said, Barça have spent years searching for players who combine quality, consistency, leadership and complete commitment to the badge. Raphinha now represents all four.
The Saudi Arabian interest may be real, and the financial temptation may be enormous. But unless the player himself changes his stance, Barcelona would be wise to resist.
