Media Foot reports that an unnamed Saudi Pro League club have identified Sunderland midfielder Habib Diarra, 22, as a priority target ahead of the summer window and are stepping up their pursuit. They are said to be ready to spend heavily to secure his signature.

The Senegal international joined from RC Strasbourg in July 2025 for around £30 million, a club record signing, after turning down interest from AC Milan and Atlético Madrid.

He made an immediate impact before a groin injury in September sidelined him for close to three months. After the Africa Cup of Nations he re-established himself under Régis Le Bris, starting regularly in midfield.

The report says his form for Sunderland and Senegal has attracted attention beyond Europe. No formal bid has been made, although initial contact is said to have taken place, and the situation remains at an early stage.

Diarra is under contract until 2030, leaving Sunderland in a strong position if interest grows. The club’s stance on a sale is unclear, but any approach would likely need to be significant given his deal and importance.

He has impressed in the Premier League this season, featuring in 14 matches and scoring against Burnley and Leeds United.
