Cristiano Ronaldo has sustained a knee tendon injury, with Al Nassr saying in a statement that he has begun rehabilitation and will be assessed daily, without giving a return timeframe.
The issue was detected after the match against Al-Fayha, in which he missed a penalty and asked to be substituted with fewer than 10 minutes remaining. Post-match, head coach Jorge Jesus downplayed concern, calling it muscle fatigue and replacing him once ahead to avoid risks.
Following a rest day, tests on Monday identified the tendon problem, and a subsequent diagnosis confirmed the injury, prompting the club’s first medical update.
The medical backdrop matters. Ronaldo has managed a chronic issue in the tendon of his left knee since late in the 2013-14 season through meticulous conditioning. Al Nassr have not specified which tendon is affected this time, and if it is the left, the outlook could be more complicated.
At 41, Ronaldo’s durability remains striking, with only 26 days missed since he moved to Saudi Arabia. The injury arrives with 10 league games to play and Al Nassr locked in a title race with Al-Ahli Saudi and Al Hilal, raising the question of whether this proves a brief setback or a more significant obstacle in the run-in.
