Saúl and his son Sergi enjoyed a unique trip in Vitoria after winning a subscribers’ draw, travelling with Villarreal and taking in the Alavés match at Mendizorroza.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, they boarded the team’s Thursday flight from València airport and checked into the team hotel, where they sampled the local cuisine.

On Friday, before rain arrived during the game, they explored the city in sunshine and again interacted with players near the hotel.

At the stadium they watched from a privileged vantage point, and Pepe’s equaliser sweetened the return flight home alongside the squad.

Saúl, a devoted Villarreal fan and subscriber, said the experience was hugely rewarding, bringing them close to the players and showing how a top-flight away trip works, all the more special given their affection for the club.

He thanked Mediterráneo for the initiative and encouraged both the newspaper and Villarreal to continue with similar schemes because of the joy they bring to supporters.
