Savinho believes being happy while playing football is crucial in the modern game and says his time at City has helped him do just that.

The Brazilian has agreed a long-term contract extension at the Club, which keeps him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2031.

Now in his second full season at City having joined from Girona in July 2024, Savinho ended his first campaign in Blue with three goals and 13 assists to his name.

He’s excited to continue his rapid development at the Club in the coming years and feels he’s in the best place possible to play football the way he feels it should be.

“My playing style is very joyful,” the 21-year-old explained.

“I think today you have to be happy to play football, you have to inspire the fans to come and watch the matches at the stadium and leave satisfied.

“My game is about attacking, going at the opponent. And as I said, I think I have to improve a lot in finishing and score more goals, and I will achieve that.

“I think the style of play helps me a lot too, always with the ball, and City has great players I play alongside here, which has always been my dream.

“I think I’m living my dream now.”

Savinho also paid tribute to Pep Guardiola and the influence he’s had in helping him acclimatise to the cut and thrust of Premier League football.

While he expects incredibly high standards on all his players, the Brazilian international says the boss, who he describes as the best manager in the world, has been a crucial supportive figure behind his development.

He added on Pep: “He doesn’t demand anything from me. I believe he is the best manager in the world. He always wants to help his players and he helps me a lot.

“When he speaks to me it’s not to make demands, but to help me improve in my daily work so that in matches I can execute what he asks of me.

“I’m learning a lot. I listen to him a lot. I have to make the most of this opportunity he’s giving me.”
