Roma is looking for strikers for next season, and Gianluca Scamacca would like to return to the capital. In short, the conditions could be ripe for a new union between the two sides.
The Atalanta striker would be reunited with Gian Piero Gasperini, with whom he played a key role in winning the Europa League.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, Scamacca is said to have met with Gasp in recent days at a training center in the EUR district, where he reiterated to the Grugliasco-born coach his desire to wear the Roma jersey.
Furthermore, the Atalanta striker is reportedly willing to lower his current salary from €3.2 million to €2.5 million.
Gasperini would also give the green light to the deal, but the current obstacle is the player’s valuation: around €25 million plus bonuses. Here’s Atalanta’s request.
Scamacca himself will therefore have to work with his agents to convince Atalanta to close the gap with the Giallorossi, who are interested but cannot afford such a cost for a striker they can relaunch.
The strategy to lower the financial outlay could be to include a technical counterpart.
