Italy and Atalanta striker Gianluca Scamacca is recovering quicker than expected from anterior cruciate ligament surgery, so could be available from January.
The centre-forward tore the ACL in his left knee during a pre-season friendly with La Dea and went under the knife on August 5.
This type of injury generally requires at least six months on the sidelines, so he was not expected to be back on the field until February 2025.
However, Sky Sport Italia report that Scamacca kicked a ball for the first time today in training and is recovering ahead of schedule.
If all continues to go well, then he could be set to make his comeback in early January 2025.
He is still working with the medical staff at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome, which is also his home city, before returning to Bergamo for the Atalanta facilities in November.
Scamacca was the second anterior cruciate ligament tear for Atalanta after Giorgio Scalvini in early June, which forced him to miss EURO 2024 for Italy.
