Schalke 04 announce new deal for key midfielder | OneFootball

FC Schalke 04 have announced a contract extension for Soufiane El-Faouzi.

The 23-year-old has signed a new deal running until 2030, with Schalke confirming that it doesn't include a release clause.

By extending his contract, Schalke have effectively fended off interest in El-Faouzi after he played a key role in the club’s promotion to the Bundesliga last season.

“Soufiane brings exactly the quality and mentality we want in our squad. The contract extension is an important signal for our direction – both in sporting terms and with regard to the development of squad value,” said Schalke director of professional football Youri Mulder.

“After his performances at Schalke, he is of course a highly sought-after player on the market. With this extension, we are also recognising his achievements. Our focus is on ensuring that, as a young player, he can develop optimally in his current environment and continue to play an important role for us.”

“I feel very comfortable at Schalke, especially within the team. We had good conversations about my future,” added Soufiane El-Faouzi.

“I’m now looking forward to seeing the guys again and starting preparations for my first season in the Bundesliga.”
