Schalke seal Tanaka signing | OneFootball

FC Schalke 04 have completed the signing of Satoshi Tanaka from Fortuna Düsseldorf.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder has signed a contract until 2030 with the promoted Bundesliga side.

“Satoshi brings the qualities we need for the defensive midfield position in our style of play: he is aggressive in his work without the ball, dynamic and agile. With his stamina and intensity, he fits the profile we are looking for very well. We are convinced that he will help us in the Bundesliga,” said Schalke 04 director of professional football Youri Mulder.

Tanaka, who had only joined Fortuna Düsseldorf from Japanese club Sanfrecce Hiroshima in January, commented:

“The officials of FC Schalke 04 clearly showed me in the discussions how I fit into their style of football in the Bundesliga. That really impressed me. 

"I am very much looking forward to the first training sessions together at the beginning of July and the matches in the VELTINS-Arena."
