Schjelderup wins Liga Portugal April forward award in boost for Benfica | OneFootball

Andreas Schjelderup’s breakout season at Benfica has earned fresh recognition, as he was voted Liga Portugal’s Forward of the Month for April in a coaches’ poll, according to Glorioso 1904.

The winger shone across four April fixtures, taking on decisive roles in key matches for the team led by José Mourinho.

He opened the month with an assist in the draw against Casa Pia. He then scored in the win over Nacional, before striking again in the victory against Sporting.

After early difficulties at the club, the 21-year-old is enjoying his best spell since arriving at the Estádio da Luz. His improvement and output have lifted his confidence and standing in the squad. He missed out on March’s young player award because of his age.

Valued at 20 million euros, Schjelderup has made 42 appearances this season for Benfica, 27 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 10 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal and one in the Taça da Liga. Across 2,464 minutes he has recorded 10 goals and six assists.
