Schlager undergoing medical ahead of Nottingham Forest move | OneFootball

According to The Athletic, Xaver Schlager is on the verge of joining Nottingham Forest. The 28-year-old is set to undergo a medical this week ahead of completing the move.

The report adds that Schlager will sign a two-year contract with the option of a further 12 months. Forest will not have to pay a transfer fee, with the midfielder becoming a free agent following the expiry of his contract at RB Leipzig. The Bundesliga club had previously attempted to extend his deal, but were ultimately unsuccessful.

At the City Ground, Schlager will reunite with fellow Austrian Oliver Glasner, who recently took charge after leaving Crystal Palace. The experienced midfielder is expected to help fill the void left by Elliot Anderson, who completed a €135 million move to Manchester City earlier this summer. However, reports suggest Forest could still look to strengthen their midfield further before the transfer window closes.
