Schuster named in European Golden Boy Top 100 | OneFootball

Brentford defender Jannik Schuster has been included in the first update of the European Golden Boy Top 100.

The list recognises the top under-21 players at European clubs and is the latest step towards the awarding of the European Golden Boy 2026.

The award has been presented by Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport since 2003. This year’s Top 100 is powered by Transfermarkt, with a scoring system developed by the website used to determine the players included on the list.

Players born in 2006 or later, who play in one of Europe’s 25 strongest top-flight leagues, are considered for the award.

The Top 100 will be updated throughout the year, with players able to earn a place on the list before it is reduced to 20 in October. The 2026 European Golden Boy winner will then be selected from the final shortlist by an international panel.

Barcelona and Spain forward Lamine Yamal currently leads the ranking, ahead of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery and Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí.

Chelsea forward Estêvão is the highest-ranked Premier League player, with 23 youngsters from England’s top flight included in the list.

Schuster's Brentford team-mate Aaron Hickey has previously been nominated for the award.

Former winners of the award include Lamine Yamal, Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, João Félix and Matthijs de Ligt.
