Torino striker Che Adams reportedly requested to not be included in Steve Clarke’s latest Scotland squad in order to focus on his start to life in Serie A, according to updates from Scottish media outlets.
Adams has not been selected for Scotland’s upcoming Nations League fixtures against Poland and Portugal over the next few days. The Scottish Sun claim that he has decided to focus on his start to life with Torino this time around.
The 28-year-old is typically a starter for his national side when available, and featured in the starting XI in all three of Scotland’s matches at EURO 2024.
Adams officially joined Torino on a free transfer in July, following the expiry of his contract with Premier League side Southampton at the end of the 2023-24 season.
He made his Torino debut off the bench in the entertaining 2-2 draw with Milan on the opening weekend of Serie A fixtures.
He has also started in the two most recent matches against Atalanta and Torino, providing a goal and an assist in the 2-1 victory over Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
Adams will stay put in Turin over the coming fortnight in order to settle down in his new surroundings and focus on his club football. Paolo Vanoli’s side will face Lecce upon the return of domestic football on September 15, before an away trip to Verona the week after.
