Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay could be heading for the exit door at Old Trafford this summer.

The Scot has been the subject of bids from Turkish giants Galatasaray who appeared keen to offer McTominay a fresh start to his stuttering club career.

The Peoples Person relayed that negotiations were ongoing between United and Gala with the Turks hopeful of concluding a deal in the coming weeks.

However, as reported by Sport Witness the move looks to have hit a stumbling block over the wage demands laid down by the 27-year-old.

According to reports in Turkey, McTominay is demanding €10 million a season from the Super Lig champions.

This would effectively mean McTominay would command the same wages as star striker Mauro Icardi who played a key role in firing Gala to the title last season, as well as putting a dagger in United’s Champions League campaign with the winner at Old Trafford.

The Galatasaray fans have already experienced the best and worst of McTominay, with the midfield man scoring at RAMS Park last season but produced an otherwise poor defensive display, with United conceding three goals on the night to effectively seal their fate in the competition.

Reports say Gala have no intention of agreeing to the United’s man demands and are now happy to walk away from the deal.

McTominay has been fighting for his United career since the arrival of Erik ten Hag and was close to a move last summer but ultimately, West Ham United’s £30m bid was knocked back.

The Scottish international divides opinion, popping up with some important goals throughout his time at the club but clearly lacking the ability to become a regular in the side.

There are other suitors interested in taking a punt on McTominay but United’s asking price might prove too difficult to match.

His own wage demands will also need to be lowered or he may well be seeing out his contract with United that runs until the summer of 2025.
