Sean Dyche said he chose not to risk Nicolas Dominguez and Matz Sels as Nottingham Forest beat Tottenham 3-0 at the City Ground.

According to Nottingham Post, Dominguez had captained Thursday’s Europa League win at Utrecht, but the midfielder was left out of the squad for the Sunday lunchtime match.

Dyche explained Dominguez has a knee issue that has been scanned, with fluid thought to be from a cyst. With eight days without a game, Forest opted for caution.

Sels missed the trip to the Netherlands with a groin problem and was again absent. John Victor deputised in both matches and kept a clean sheet on his Premier League debut.

Forest now have a break before visiting Fulham on 22 December. Dyche is hopeful Sels can return in goal, but he will wait to see how the injury settles.

He said forcing either player could have led to a longer lay-off, so the risk had to be weighed carefully. Dyche also praised John’s composed display.
