Sean Dyche: Nottingham Forest boss continues tirade against Casemiro goal | OneFootball

Manchester United came away from the City Ground with a 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon against Nottingham Forest.

Story of the match

After taking the lead with a Casemiro header, United went into the break ahead at half-time.

Nonetheless, United started the second half in horrendous fashion, conceding two goals in the space of five minutes to surrender their advantage.

The Red Devils dug in though and found an equaliser ten minutes from time with a stunning equaliser from Amad.

Controversy

The home side and fans were livid with the officials’ decision to award Man United a corner in the first half which eventually led to Casemiro’s opener.

Nicolo Savona had tried to keep the ball in play but the officials judged he had failed to do so and awarded a corner kick to United.

The rules state that the ball must be entirely out of play to be considered out and video evidence was largely inconclusive if this was the case or not.

In comments carried by talkSPORT, Dyche lambasted the referee’s decision to award a corner.

He complained, “it’s just bizarre because I actually had a chat after last week with [PGMOL chief] Howard [Webb], expressing my concerns for the bigger picture. Because this VAR thing, they want referees talking to the fans, I don’t know why, it just wastes more time.”

Dyche was surprised that the referees could not use VAR to check if the ball had gone out and explained, “referees going over to the screen, I don’t know why, it just wastes more time. We know what’s going to happen. And then a corner that’s gone against us twice is what, five seconds?”

He also claimed that it is was unfair that the officials made a decision from so far away.

Dyche added, “now what’s even worse is that the assistant referee has given it from like 75 yards away, behind the view of a goal by the way, the goal net, and apparently can see it. Then even worse is after that, and we all know the rules about the ball, because if it goes one millimetre it’s not in the goal.”

The Englishman was also surprised that the decision was given to the attacking team and complained once more that “I can’t work it out. Two in two weeks is farcical to me. You might get one a season that’s a bit like that, but not two in two weeks.”

United fans will be wondering where the media and public outrage was last weekend when Danny Welbeck’s free kick goal against the Red Devils was controversially moved forward about five yards from where the original foul took place.
