Head coach Sean Dyche said growing interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Douglas Luiz as deadline day nears is no surprise.

According to Nottingham Post, Chelsea are considering a move for Luiz amid uncertainty over his future. Luiz is on a season-long loan from Juventus, though Forest must decide on a conditional obligation to buy.

The obligation is understood to be appearance based, with a €25 million (£22m) clause triggered if he reaches 15 Premier League appearances of 45 minutes or more.

Injuries and limited minutes have checked his progress. The 27-year-old has eight league outings, three as a substitute. He started Thursday night's 1-0 Europa League defeat at Braga but did not make an impact in Portugal.

Dyche said interest in good players is part of modern football, describing it as a double-edged sword for clubs who want to retain them. He noted Forest may have rushed Luiz back for European action, adding that the player's experience has aided his return.

Forest are yet to add to their squad this month, with Arnaud Kalimuendo loaned to Eintracht Frankfurt. They are closing in on a loan for Italian forward Lorenzo Lucca and expect further signings before the window shuts on February 2.
