Nottingham Forest are keeping January plans under review as injuries mount and Africa Cup of Nations absences loom, with Sean Dyche stressing the process remains ongoing.

After a busy summer, a quieter winter is expected, but fitness issues are likely to shape any business. According to Nottingham Post, discussions between Dyche and the hierarchy are continuous, covering squad needs, injuries, and possible ins and outs.

Club captain Ryan Yates suffered a hamstring problem soon after coming on in last weekend’s defeat at Everton and is set to be out for weeks. Dyche doubts he will be seen again before January, expecting a few more weeks out.

Tottenham visit the City Ground on Sunday, 2pm kick-off. This weekend’s fixture will be Ibrahim Sangare’s final Forest game before he links up with Ivory Coast. Defender Willy Boly is also in the holders’ squad, with AFCON scheduled for December 21 to January 18.

Douglas Luiz made his comeback in Thursday night’s Europa League win over Utrecht, though Dyche says he is not yet fully fit. After discussing it with the player, Forest brought him back earlier than ideal and he was withdrawn at half-time as a precaution.

Arsenal loanee Oleksandr Zinchenko also returned in the Netherlands, completing the full match. With more training behind him, Dyche felt he could be less cautious, while noting Luiz still has work to do despite his obvious quality.
