Seattle Sounders FC

Standings

  • 9th in Western Conference
  • 24 points (7W-7L-3D)

Last game

After snapping their seven-match losing streak with a 3-0 win over Querétaro, Seattle concluded their Leagues Cup campaign with a 2-1 defeat against Chivas de Guadalajara.

On a positive note, Sounders Academy graduate Gallatin Sandnes scored his first goal for the club on his full debut.

Players to watch

  • Albert Rusnák: The Slovakian No. 10 is Seattle's attacking centerpiece and primary chance creator, with a team-leading 3g/5a in league play.
  • Paul Rothrock: A Sounders Academy product, Rothrock has stepped forward amid a rash of injuries to become Seattle's leading scorer this season (five goals).
  • Jesús Ferreira: The former FC Dallas attacker is still searching for consistent goal-scoring form, but he's provided a joint team-high five assists in MLS action.
  • Jackson Ragen: Fresh off his first MLS All-Star selection, the 27-year-old center back is Seattle's defensive leader.

Need to know

With their club-record seven-game losing streak in the rearview mirror, Seattle will have intentions of recreating their characteristic late-season push.

Despite their recent poor run of form, the Sounders remain strong defensively with the third-fewest goals conceded (22) in the Western Conference. It's now about finding consistent attacking output, having scored the second-fewest goals (20) in the West.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC

Standings

  1. 1st Western Conference
  2. 34 points (10W-3L-4D)

Last game

Vancouver are looking to put a winless Leagues Cup campaign behind them, ending in a penalty defeat to Tigres UANL following a 1-1 draw.

Before entering the midsummer tournament, head coach Jesper Sørensen's team battled back for a 1-1 draw against LAFC

Players to watch

  • Thomas Müller: The German legend and Bayern Munich icon has been an invaluable source of production and leadership since his arrival last season.
  • Andrés Cubas: One of the league's most underrated defensive midfielders, the Paraguay international is central to Vancouver's entire operation on both sides of the ball.
  • Ryan Gauld: The Scottish No. 10 has battled injuries over the last year and a half, but is one of the league's most complete attacking players when healthy and has slowly been working his way back into the mix.
  • Brian White: The star No. 9 has posted double-digit goals in each of the last four seasons for Vancouver, including 10g/2a so far in 2026.

Need to know

Vancouver continue to perform after a historic 2025 campaign, in which they made the Concacaf Champions Cup and MLS Cup presented by Audi finals, in addition to lifting a fourth consecutive Canadian Championship.

Boasting the most goals scored (38) and fewest goals conceded (17) in the West, the Whitecaps will look to maintain their place among the league's elite and reinforce their credentials as an MLS Cup contender.
