At 32, Sébastien Haller has left FC Utrecht to join Sanfrecce Hiroshima on a one-year deal, moving to the J-League after signing on Monday morning.

The player said in a statement on the club website that he is delighted and grateful to join, eager to discover Hiroshima, the club, his team-mates and the supporters. He added that he will stay humble and respectful and do his best to help the club achieve its goals as he begins this new adventure with his family.

After spells with AJ Auxerre, Eintracht Frankfurt, West Ham, Ajax Amsterdam, Borussia Dortmund, Leganés and Utrecht, the Ivorian striker is set for his eighth club.

Haller will wear number 22 and link up with his new team-mates at their pre-season camp in Austria.

He was not called up by Côte d'Ivoire for the World Cup, and the 2026-27 season begins on 8 August.
