In recent weeks, Sergio Ramos has tried to persuade the Sevilla FC management for a second return to the club, but his dream will not come true. The Andalusian club has provided an explanation.

After his spell in Mexico with Monterrey, Sergio Ramos attempted another comeback at Sevilla FC. The veteran center-back even offered to invest in the club's capital, while keeping the door open for a return to the pitch. However, neither option materialized. Speaking to the daily AS, president José Maria del Nido Carrasco explained his decision.

"The decision for Ramos not to play again for Sevilla is mine. Everyone knows how hard I fought to bring him here two years ago, and then to keep him. I told Sergio's entourage that, for me, it was incompatible to be both an owner and a player at Sevilla. It's true we don't have a salary cap, but the decision had nothing to do with sporting reasons. Almeyda and Cordon had nothing to do with it either," stated the Sevilla president.
