Chelsea have a ‘pretty good chance’ of signing Jeremy Jacquet ahead of Bayern Munich, reports Christian Falk.
The Bundesliga leaders are firm admirers of the Rennes defender. However, the club is understood to not be involved in negotiations for the reported Premier League target.
This opens the door for one of the Blues or English top-flight rivals Liverpool to swoop in.

In what may be perceived as a potential blow by FC Bayern fans, the German outfit is ‘not a big competitor’ for Jacquet.
“Bayern Munich are not a big competitor for Jérémy Jacquet’s signature,” Falk exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.
“They know him, and he has a market for the summer, but Bayern are not, at the moment, involved in negotiations. This means there’s a big chance for the Premier League.”
That’s, of course, an understandable situation to contend with given the club currently has a full complement of centre-backs:
These are hardly problematic options, but we’re sure it won’t have gone unnoticed among the powers that be at the Allianz Arena that, come the summer, Bayern’s youngest central defender will be 27.
Some fresh blood may very well be warranted in the next transfer window, and Jacquet (20) would have provided it.

There’s a rare opportunity here for Premier League clubs to secure a deal ahead of the summer transfer window.
“He’s a player who has an exciting future in the game. I believe it will cost around €50m [£43.3m] to buy him,” Falk added.
“Bayern are still waiting and won’t invest now in the Rennes star. So, I think there’s a pretty good chance for Chelsea.”
Rennes’ position, of course, has been clear: the player isn’t up for an immediate sale in January.
However, our understanding is that the Ligue 1 outfit would be open to a sale that sees the young centre-half remain in Brittany until the end of the 2025/26 season.
Assuming the relevant clubs involved can come to an agreement, this would see another name ticked off Bayern’s potential list of centre-back targets, having also missed out on Marc Guehi.
