Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United have announced the appointment of former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Andre Arendse as an assistant coach.

The Bafana legend joins a technical team comprising of head coach Eric Tinkler, who is assisted by his former player Marc van Heerden and Paulos Masehe.

Interestingly, Arendse reunites with Tinkler, whom he won the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) alongside, under the tutelage of Clive Barker.

The 58-year-old mentor was last in charge of the now defunct SuperSport United last season, saving them from relegation following Gavin Hunt's exit.

Arendse was retained as a second in command when Matsatsantsa sold their status and rebranded to Siwelele FC ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

However, his spell with the Bloemfontein-based outfit was brief as he was shown the exit door along with CEO Stan Matthews after a poor start to the season.

Now, Arendse is set for a new chapter with Babina Noko, who are currently undergoing a dip in form amid a four-game winless run in the league.

Sekhukhune sit in fourth place with 21 points from 11 Betway Premiership matches and will be aiming to return to winning ways when they visit Marumo Gallants on Saturday, 22 November.
