Seko Fofana retires from international football after 2024 AFCON win with Côte d'Ivoire | OneFootball

Seko Fofana has ended his Côte d'Ivoire career after helping the Elephants win the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations. The player said in an Instagram post on Monday that it was time to move on, expressing pride and gratitude for representing his country.

First capped in 2017 under Marc Wilmots, the 31-year-old won 34 caps and scored 7 goals for the national team.

He was part of the side that lifted the continental title in 2024 and more recently featured at the 2026 World Cup, where Côte d'Ivoire reached the last 32.

Fofana started the Elephants’ opening match at the tournament, then was moved to the bench and did not feature in their final two games.

At club level he is with Porto on loan from Rennes, having previously played for Lens between 2020 and 2023.
