Basauri-born Selton, 19, will alternate between the first team and Bilbao Athletic this season, with a loan to Segunda División ruled out despite outside interest. As reported by as.com, the plan has been drawn up by the sporting department and German coach Edin Terzic.

He made 13 first-team appearances under Ernesto Valverde, but only 370 minutes, spread across three starts and 10 substitute cameos in the top flight.

He also appeared in the Champions League against Newcastle, Slavia Prague and Sporting de Portugal. For now the focus shifts down a level, with Selton ready to step up again as soon as Terzic calls.
