Senegal and Mali both made it through to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Mali had to go to a penalty shoot-out with Tunisia to confirm their place in the last eight of the competition, progressing despite playing much of the game with ten men.
Woyo Coulibaly’s 26th minute red card made life difficult for Tom Saintfiet’s side, and Tunisia thought they had booked their place in the next stage when substitute Firas Chaouat scored in the 88th minute to put his side ahead.
But a late penalty from Lassine Sinayoko took the game to extra time, which could not separate the two sides, before El Bilal Toure scored the winning spot-kick to send his side through in dramatic fashion.
Sudan did, however, take a shock early lead then Aamir Abdallah scored in the sixth minute.
But a double from Pape Gueye followed by a late goal from PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye sent Senegal through.
Mali and Senegal will now face each other for a place in the semi-finals.
