Senegal face Norway in the early hours of Tuesday, with preparations overshadowed by off-field turbulence at the 2026 World Cup. They were beaten 3-1 by France in their opener.

Sport News Africa reports that players and staff are unhappy on several fronts, and that the mood has seeped into preparation.

Several have complained about the hotel quality, far from what they expect at a top-level tournament. The team chef did not travel, and hotel meals have not suited everyone, prompting some to order from outside.

Financially, there is said to be uncertainty around bonuses. The federation is said to have received money for the Africa Cup of Nations final, where Senegal won before the title was eventually awarded to Morocco, and for World Cup qualification. Players are yet to see it, figures remain unknown, and the wait has bred impatience.

Head coach Pape Thiaw has reportedly not signed his contract because of points of disagreement, with talks continuing as the federation seeks to avoid open tension.

If FIFA, led by Gianni Infantino, becomes aware, sanctions could follow since a coach cannot work without a contract. The situation could jeopardise their campaign, though the squad is said to remain united before Norway at two am on Tuesday.
