Manchester United pulled off a victory on Sunday evening over Liverpool that will live long in the memories of their fans.
The Red Devils have massively struggled at Anfield in recent years but have seemingly turned a corner.
Since the infamous 0-7 defeat in 2023, they have gone three matches unbeaten on their biggest rival’s home patch.
A 0-0 and 2-2 draw were followed up with an impressive 2-1 victory with Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire scoring the goals.
The Peoples Person held a poll directly after the match for fans to decide who was their player of the match.
The 23 year old has made quite the impression despite only playing two matches for United.
After standing out against Sunderland, he was given the nod for the trip to Anfield and did not disappoint as 44% of those polled judged him to be man of the match.
Lammens pulled off a vital stop when Alexander Isak went one-on-one in the first half and calmly dealt with numerous catches and high balls that Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir would have been sweating with.
It is only two matches in but it seems United may finally have found a reliable, no fuss keeper for the future.
The big defender has had his fair share of criticism during his time at Old Trafford but enjoyed one of his sweetest moments on Sunday.
After spending a lot of the match defending, he got the chance from a corner to make his mark in attack.
He expertly headed home a sumptuous volleyed cross from Bruno Fernandes to send the United fans into raptures.
As a result, 33% of fans voted him yesterday’s man of the match.
11% of pollsters claimed Mbeumo was the best player on the pitch on Sunday.
He scored a vital early goal after just 65 seconds which changed the whole face of the match.
The Cameroonian has been a breath of fresh air since his move from Brentford and United fans will be very excited to see what more he can bring in the near future to the team’s attack.
The Ivorian worked very well down the right hand side with Mbeumo and created his goal with a lovely through ball with the outside of his foot.
He worked tirelessly the entire time he was on the pitch, giving Liverpool numerous headaches down their left hand side.
6% of supporters felt he deserved the accolades of being player of the game.
Finally, 4% of fans felt that Cunha was the best player in a Red Devils’ shirt.
He failed to score or assist but he held up the ball well and made some nice passes to string together some United attacks.
The Brazilian showed his class in the final minutes of the game, holding onto the ball and winning a free kick a couple of times deep into added time to relieve serious pressure from the United penalty area.
His ability to carry the ball under pressure will no doubt come in handy for United for years to come.
Finally, 2% believed that another United player was deserving of being named the player of the match.
