Sereias da Vila face São Paulo on Thursday 13 August at 19:00 at Estádio Municipal Prefeito Gabriel Marques da Silva in Santana de Parnaíba, in the sixth round of the Paulista F.

According to Diario Do Peixe, Santos must beat São Paulo and then Mirassol, and hope Corinthians, São Paulo, Palmeiras and Bragantino all fail to win, to secure direct passage to the semi-finals.

Marcelo Frigerio’s side are fifth on six points, with one win, three draws and one defeat, and a goal tally of five scored and five conceded. Victory would draw them level with third-placed São Paulo on nine, though for now they occupy a play-in berth.

Their campaign so far has brought a 2-1 loss at Ferroviária, a 0-0 draw with Palmeiras, a 2-2 draw at Corinthians, a 1-0 home win over Taubaté and a 1-1 draw at Bragantino.

Thursday’s match will be shown on Record News, HBO Max and Cazé TV. Santos then face Mirassol on Wednesday 26 August at 18:30 in Santana de Parnaíba, live on YouTube Paulistão.

The competition is a single round of seven matchdays. The top two progress straight to the semi-finals, while teams in third to sixth play two-legged play-in ties, third against sixth and fourth against fifth. Semi-finals are slated for nine and 13 December, the two-legged final for 16 and 20 December, with eliminated play-in teams entering the Copa Paulista alongside the seventh and eighth.
