Sergio Ramos arrived in Seville on Thursday seeking to push forward his interest in buying Sevilla. According to Zona Mixta, he is in the city with his brother René for meetings linked to a possible takeover.

His interest was among the most recent proposals made public and is estimated to exceed 400 million euros. He would be part of a consortium and his bid would have backing from Monchi, with whom he already has ties through CD San Fernando 1940.

Until now, his move had looked like little more than a flirtation after his spell in Mexico. Noise rather than substance has surrounded the idea.

Even so, this sudden visit to the city where he made his name may mark a step towards tabling a formal offer. Any move would depend on him putting a number on the table.

The veteran centre-back is currently without a club and close to turning 40. He is waiting on a final professional adventure, with the World Cup next summer on the horizon.
