Real Madrid icon Sergio Ramos has on Friday put rivalries to one side, to send a message of congratulations to Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets.

This comes after the latter announced his impending retirement from the game.

Midfielder Busquets is for his part currently plying his trade in the USA, alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba at MLS outfit Inter Miami.

The 37-year-old, despite his advancing years, has enjoyed a superb individual campaign to date, boasting eight assists in 28 league appearances.

Busquets, though, has nevertheless made the call to hang up his boots once Inter’s season comes to a close.

Messages of well wishes and congratulations, in turn, have since come pouring in for a player who nothing short of defined a position.

And as alluded to above, quick to add his name to this list of well wishers was one of the most beloved players in Real Madrid’s storied history.

Taking to his official social media platforms, defender Ramos unveiled a touching post to Busquets, detailed in full below:

‘Busi, you are the definition of how to be exceptional without ceasing to be a regular guy. A rival most of the time, a teammate on many other occasions, you have always stood out for your classy football, vision, and quality, as well as for your humble and authentic way of being. Football loses one of the brightest midfielders I’ve played with, but you leave with the recognition and gratitude of all those who have shared time with you and of all those who love this sport. Thank you for being a great player, a great teammate, and a great friend. I wish you the best in your new chapter. Big kisses, brother.’
